after the cerclage and blood sugar

Well, the cerclage is over and I am sure glad. The doctor put in two stitches, one at 3 cm and one at 3 1/2 cm. He said everything went well. I have been laying down a lot, becuase I had the old familier low dull back ache, pelvic pressure, uterine tightning and pain right by my tailbone. at first I thought maybe I would loose this baby because if the backache...I thought I might be funneling more. Things are improving.
What has been worse than recovering from the cerclage are the blood sugar problems I have been having. I have hypoglycemia...the exact opposite of diabetes. With this pregnancy it has beenout of control lately. It really peaked the day before my surgery. I was in a store with my son Josh. My husband(luckily he was near) was in a store next door with the other two children. While I was in the store my headache peaked and then all of the sudden everything started spinning. Even with my eyes closed it felt like I was on a canival ride. I got hot and sick and my vision blurred. I sat deon for as long as I could and finally made my way to the other store walking like a drunk. Paul took me home and I stayed in bed.
The next day at the hospital I todl them I was havingsome problems, so they decided to test my blood sugar level. BEfore surgery it was 81 (supposed to be between 80 and 120ish...80 is very low however), so they were concerned. durign the surgery they took it agin adn it had dropped to 63...so they gave me some sugars in my IV. Before I left they checked it again and it was in the low 70's. Most of my recovery has been trying to get my blood sugar regulated, but this pregnancy is really messing it up. I never had these bad of blood sugar problems with my other pregnancys. I have been hungry every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I am sick of eating!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the only thing to do to make this better. and I have to eat certain things. I feel like a stuffed goose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have only gained 1 pound so far inthis pregnancy, but maybe with all this eating I will actually gain something!
My husband and I have decided that this will be the last pregnancy for us. Every pregnancy I get something new added on top of the old things I have had before. We have been very lucky to have the children we have. We have been lucky to be able to concieve them so easily. My body just wasn't made to carry children. We had wanted more...next time we are ready for a new baby we will try to adopt one or maybe a few.
Well, I feel really grumpy and need to lay back down. Thank you for reading. I hope all is well whn I go in for my post op appointment this week. I hope this little baby stays in a long time..I just hope the time goes by fast!!!!!!!

  • Well I am also hoping this little baby stays put for the duration.
That must have been incredibly scary for you to get so dizzy like that.  I'm glad your hubby was close by.  I hope things start to regulate for you with your blood sugars.
Good luck.  I hope you can enjoy your 4th!
